We Are Black and British wins at the Grierson Awards

Cardiff Productions is proud to have won a Grierson – one of the most prestigious documentary awards in Britain. Our winning series, We Are Black and British, has received critical acclaim throughout the year, having been nominated for a Broadcast Award, as well as a Prix Europa.

In this series, six black Britons come together under one roof – a country house in a small British village. Here, they live together for ten days, sharing incredibly personal stories and tackling some of the biggest issues affecting Britain’s black communities.

Described as “the most intelligent reality TV show in recent memory” by The Guardian, this series feels truly fresh in a number of ways. It broke the traditional mould of house formats; raised critical, taboo subjects; and showcased a diversity of voices in the black community that are rarely heard on television – from the left all the way across to the right.
