Happy 5th Birthday Cardiff Productions!
It’s incredible how time flies. It feels like only yesterday that we set the company up during lockdown, and what a ride it’s been…
Right from the outset, our motto was “Beiddgar, Amrywiol, Poblogaidd” (Bold, Diverse, Popular).
Thankfully we’ve managed to be true to our brand through some challenging times in the industry, creating stand-out content across a range of broadcasters, genres and tones…
This includes documentaries like Peter: The Human Cyborg, We Are Black and British, Britain’s Beautiful Rivers with Richard Hammond, and Tan France: Beauty and the Bleach; specialist factual programmes like The Soldiers That Saved Britain, Y Frwydr: Stori Anabledd, The Massacre That Shook The Empire and Wales’ Black Miners; fact ent formats like Am Dro!, Taith Bywyd, Take A Hike and Academi Gomedi; current affairs shows like Ni Yw’r Cymry, Young, Black and Right-Wing, Unapologetic and Whites Only: Ade’s Extremist Adventure; and entertaining digital projects like Ffities Mel Owen.
We’ve been nominated as Best Emerging Indie; selected for the competitive BBC Indie Fund and the Channel 4 Indie Accelerator scheme; won and been nominated for a number of prestigious industry awards, including from BAFTA, the Griersons, Broadcast, RTS and Prix Europa; organised a first-look distribution deal with Hat Trick International; and spearheaded ambitious Media Cymru projects aimed at improving the Welsh sector in the global market.
But of course, it’s the amazing people who’ve made this journey so special. Frankly, none of it would have been possible without our wonderful core team – Cat, Jo, Rhianna, Cara and Frankie.
Countless others have been integral parts of this journey too, not to forget Pat Younge, Lindsay Davies, Gwenda Carnie, Becky Nunn, Geraint Rowlands, Paul Owen, Mali Rees, Isaac Densu, Eric Haynes, Lowri Lewis, Heledd Angharad, Maxine Watson, Sion Thomas, Sian Boobier, Nerys Rowlands, Eirlys Bellin, Ben Anderson, Steff Watkins, Catrin Jones Shawe, Ali John, the guys at Cranc, Gelert and Rough Collie, and many, many more.
We’ve also been lucky to have worked with some brilliant commissioners. A heartfelt thanks to Shaminder Nahal, Sacha Mirzoeff, Llinos Wynne, Iwan England, Emily Shields, Gian Quaglieni, Nelesh Dhand, Catherine Catton, Beej Patel, Alf Lawrie, Nas Haque, Elen Rhys, Daniel Fromm, Sioned Geraint, Daisy Scalchi, Tom Pullen, Lindsay Bradbury, Sian Harris, Julian Carey, Julie Shaw, Tom Giles, Simon Young, Kate Devlin, Guto Rhun and Sorelle Neil.
If we’ve forgotten a name, forgive us. But thank you, you know who you are.
Diolch,
Narinder
